"Where the sun drops into the sea" is a quiet pause. This work arose from my need to capture the moment in which light and water, warmth and depth merge. Like a quiet farewell, a sinking away without disappearing. The lines are only tentatively, almost shyly drawn across the canvas - they hint at what cannot be said. The rust colour stands for the ephemeral, which nevertheless shines. I work in layers, leaving space for the unfinished, which can never be fully grasped - just like the longing that this picture carries within it. It is a place between day and night, between clarity and dissolution.
