Nestled deep within a forgotten woodland, the remnants of a once-busy roadside refuge emerge: the “Budget Motel,” its sign barely hanging on, leans into decay with quiet resignation. Behind it, a weather-stained Texaco emblem clings to the wooden façade like a relic of mid-century Americana. The bright, weathered yellow of the motel and the rust-tinged sign offer a surreal contrast to the grayscale forest that encases them—highlighted through selective color to emphasize abandonment amidst resilience. Timothy Hall’s composition captures the ghost of travel and commerce, long faded but still stubbornly rooted in the woods.
