Adult Length: Up to 18 metres
Once common in Korean waters, this baleen whale was nearly wiped out by 20th-century whaling. Fewer than 500 individuals remain in the North Pacific. Slow-moving and coastal, they are at high risk from ship strikes and entanglement. Sightings near Korea are rare but deeply significant for marine conservation.
