Japanese seerfish scomberomorus niphoniuspixianai
Japanese Seerfish (Scomberomorus niphonius)

Adult Length: Up to 1 metre
This fast-swimming predator, related to the mackerel, once supported major coastal fisheries in Korea and Japan. Overfishing and warming seas have caused steep population declines. Although not yet critically endangered, it is now classed as vulnerable and closely monitored. A key species in discussions of East Asian fishery sustainability.
