Podcast | Quantum Computing for Logistics: Promise or Reality?

November 1, 2024

Understand quantum physics? Neither do we. But you might be able to grasp quantum computing.

No question about it, quantum physics is weird. But one offshoot of the science, quantum computing, might be a little more understandable. In fact, it offers huge benefits for multiple industries — and especially logistics. On this episode, we explore the potential of quantum computing (after defining exactly what it is) to help shippers and logistics providers solve some of the brutally complex equations that dictate how they determine optimal routing, packaging, loading and analytics. Our guest is Chris Arrasmith, senior vice president of enterprise computing solutions with Unisys. He offers a guide to the practical applications of quantum computing, as well as the game-changing potential of quantum annealing (and yes, we define that, too). And he answers the question: Can humans keep up?
