Think slavery in global supply chains is a thing of the past? Think again.
An estimated 17 million to 21 million workers currently are living in slavery conditions worldwide. That statistic comes from Joe Walden, associate teaching professor in analytics, information and operations management at the University of Kansas. In a recent article in the Advances in Social Sciences Research Journal, he lays out the facts about modern-day slavery. Turns out it’s prevalent throughout the world, even in places where you might not expect to find it. But with all the news about the topic, and a slew of regulations enacted to put a stop to it, why is slavery still a problem? And what more needs to be done, to wipe it out altogether? Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
