A seasoned logistics executive returns to the U.S. and finds a market that’s familiar in some ways, and sharply different in others.

Jeff Barrie is a longtime executive with experience in logistics, especially expedited and small-package delivery. He previously served as senior vice president of sales with BAX Global, which was acquired by DB Schenker in 2006. Now, after years of working in Germany, Barrie has returned to this country to take on the position of chief executive officer USA with DB Schenker. On this episode, he shares his views on the current U.S. logistics market, the impact of technology on data and services, the state and availability of labor, the capacity crunch, last-mile delivery, and what the future holds for shippers, logistics providers and consumers.
